Tiger Woods ended all the speculation, and doubt, about whether he would be healthy enough to play in next week's AT&T National at Aronimink Golf Club by announcing Wednesday that he will not compete.

"Doctor's orders," Woods said in a Twitter post. After his post Wednesday, Woods issued a statement on his website saying he was "disappointed" he wouldn't be able to play.

Woods, whose Tiger Woods Foundation is a beneficiary of the AT&T National, will be at the Newtown Square course Tuesday and Wednesday, greeting players and participating in the opening ceremonies.

The event will return next year to Congressional.

Woods will sign the wall in several places, tournament officials said. Asked if Woods would be on-site during the competition, McLaughlin said: "We're going to play it by ear."

"Doctor's orders," Woods posted on Twitter.

He said he would be at Aronimink to support the tournament, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. Woods did not mention whether he planned to play the next major.
